EP 01 – Introduction to the Young Money Podcast with Ross Marais

February 11, 2018 by Ross

The Young Money Podcast with me (Ross Marais), is designed to change the conversation we have about money, from the media’s negative portrayals to more of a go-to resource and good news story. Each week we will be bringing you a discussion about money that is relevant to our generation as well as interviews with Young Australian’s who are doing something amazing with their lives. From young Aussies living overseas to those opening their own businesses on the Gold Coast, we will be talking to about travel, business, relationships and most importantly – what role money plays in their lives.

Being a Financial Planner at More Time Financial, I see the best and the worst of what money brings and the challenges it presents to young Australians. Even though the implications of having or needing money can be some of the most difficult, the idea behind More Time Financial, from its inception two-and-a-half years ago, is to focus on young people and close the gap between where they are and where they want to be financially.

In the first episode of The Young Money Podcast, I talk about the traditional understanding of financial planners do and why young Australians aren’t being taken care of as much when it comes to their money or their plans for their future. I share my experiences and challenges of going into business with my father in order to help my generation and hopefully change their perspective on finance. I discuss the importance of getting the right information and how between the ages of 20 and 35, we experience the some of the most challenging lessons of our life. We are going to bring you these conversations and introduce you to young Australians who are all going through the same challenges as you are while they chase their life goals.

This podcast aims to deliver insight into what I see as a financial planner in my day-to-day consultations, and how young Australians from a range of backgrounds and experiences see the world and view the topic of money in Australia. This podcast series will try to break the taboo subject of talking about money and hopefully inspire young Australians to seek more resources and educate themselves on how to be smarter with their finances.

Episode Two will feature Phillippa Meecham – The owner and driving force of Project Box, who talks about starting her own business and how she is aiming to help improve the lives of her clients. Episode Two will be available from Wednesday the 14/02/2018 and you can find it at [insert link], on Itunes and where ever you get your podcasts.
